It was another great day today–lots of interesting presentations, and my panel was today as well: here I am with my co-presenters.
But mostly what I want to share is my visit to the monastery of 10,000 Buddhas. When I was here with my beloved mentor from Wartburg, Duane Priebe, I vividly remember visiting this place, and being totally amazed by it. So, this time I was determined to find it again! It took some doing–I could see it on a nearby hill, but without wings, how to get there? Lots and lots of steep stairs down, and then lots and lots of steep stairs up, it turns out–but oh, was it worth it. There are literally over 10,000 Buddhas in the main hall (in the first picture, every little golden speck you see is a Buddha–and that doesn’t even begin to show you the scale. (You can only take pictures outside, not inside.). Plus, the whole rest of the complex is filled with a variety of different statues, all of which are beautiful. See for yourself.
